74th Hunger Games[]
Due to District Nine being one of the poorer districts, the district nine male was presumably reaped for the 74th hunger games like his partner. He presumably was present during training, and like the other twenty three tributes, was forced to have an interview with host Caesar Flickerman.
The District male was killed in the initial cornucopia bloodbath, and his death is witnessed by District 12 tribute Katniss Everdeen. After he attempts to fight over an orange backpack with her, he is stabbed in the back by one of Clove's throwing knives, causing him to cough up blood into Katniss' face. He placed 24th out of 24 tributes and was presumably the first tribute to be killed. Towards the end of the games, his DNA was used to create a living and physically similar muttation in his likeness, which was used to chase the final three tributes Katniss, Cato, and Peeta Mellark on the final day of the games. It is unknown if his mutt survived.
Behind the Scenes[]
The District 9 male is portrayed by Imanol Yepez-Frias in The Hunger Games (Film). His role is replaced by the District 7 male in the film, and he does not appear in the bloodbath scene, instead only making a background appearance during the chariot rides.
